I came across some of Kimberly Ovitz’s Fall/Winter 2009 collection in a boutique earlier this week and fell in love with her designs. There are so many ‘modern classic’ pieces such as the little black dresses, jackets and coats, and the skinny black pants. The knitwear was also super soft and to die for. Carine Roitfeld recently said in an interview with the Guardian: ”When you get older, you have to stay a bit rock’n'roll so that young people will still be interested in you. The way you move, the way you talk, maybe the way you have your hair in your face a little bit – this keeps you interesting.” I think Daphne Guinness definitely got the rockstar memo and how about the black stripes in her hair? So jealous I didn’t pioneer those!!
Jason Wu 2010 Resort
Jason Wu, the designer of Michelle Obama’s famous inaugural gown, showed his 2010 resort collection yesterday at the Greenwich Hotel in New York. Wu’s collection was very simple and chic, comprising mostly of crisp skirt and blouse combinations and elegant dresses. A neutral color palate of greys and cream was offset by bright colors such as turquoise, yellow, and orange, which left me teetering between just liking and loving the pieces. Actress Rachel Bilson does carpool duty picking up her little sister from school in California. Rachel was sporting those mock crocodile wellie boots that are the result of a colaboration between Jimmy Choo and famous wellington boot makers Hunter. (See our post about the boots HERE)…. Last week Rachel was in Paris with boyfriend Hayden Christensen for the French Open and to shoot a campaign for French clothing company Lacoste. Rodebjer S/S 2009
Swedish designer Carin Rodebjer attended F.I.T. and began selling her designs to boutiques in New York while living their after graduating from college. She then returned to Sweden where she founded her namesake label which is now sold in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Spain, USA, Canada, Japan and Singapore.
