29 January 2010

Apart from a few slightly random sequin leopard-print and snakeskin-print pieces (which are not shown here because they don’t fall on to RDuJour’s like-o-meter!) Stella McCartney’s pre-fall collection is absolute perfection! Presented with a tea party at the British Embassy in Paris earlier this week, McCartney said her collection was “to provide a whole wardrobe, pieces that will stay with you for years because of the quality, and because, hopefully, they have a kind of timelessness.” Mission more than accomplished. The beige cashmere cape-like coat (above), matching a-line skirt, grey double-breasted but lapeless suit, cuffed jeans and trench coat,  ivory lace top and to the ankle trousers, and black lace detailed dresses, were among RDuJour’s favorite pieces (…basically everything!). Stella McCartney Interview

30 September 2009

Stella McCartney interviewed by Suzy Menkes for the International Herald Tribune Luxury conference held in New Dehli back in March of this year about sustainable fashion. I post a lot about products that are not very “green” on this blog but I admire the way Stella has factored her beliefs about the environment and animal rights into her business without sacrificing the look of her clothes.

10 June 2009

British fashion designer Stella McCartney will be designing a kids and baby collection in colaboration with San Francisco based retailer The Gap. The collection will be carried in select GapKids and babyGap stores in the U.S. and Canada, the UK, France and Ireland, and Japan, as well as online in the U.S, and will be released in November 2009. Of the project Stella said: “For years now I’ve wanted to create a collection for kids, it’s something I’ve often been asked about. I believe that this one off collaboration will be a great way for customers to be able to participate in the Stella McCartney brand. I believe that kids clothing should be more accessibly priced, which is particularly important at the moment given the current climate. It’s really exciting for us to do a boys and girls collection for the first time.” See her Facebook group for more.
