When a Riviera socialite’s diamonds are stolen—the latest in a string of seemingly unconnected but increasingly audacious jewelry heists across France—Peter Mayle’s bon vivant and master sleuth, Sam Levitt, and his partner, Elena Morales, are soon on the case. In these “perfect crimes,” Sam sees the hand of a master criminal, but as he and Elena dig deeper, they begin to realize just how dangerous it may be to pursue the truth. In the midst of all the excitement, there’s a house to renovate, rosé to share, and feasts of the Provençal summer bounty to enjoy—giving The Diamond Caper all the hallmarks of another delightfully sun-splashed Peter Mayle adventure.

Neo-Pop artist Romero Britto spent his formative years drawing images on scraps of cardboard and newspaper in Recife, Brazil up until 1988 when he moved to Miami and was instantly recognized for his playful works that combine color, hard lines and a unique fusion of Cubism, Pop-Art and graffiti street art. His artistic influences are reminiscent of Picasso’s Cubist period, Matisse’s use of bright colors and Keith Haring’s use of hard lines and repeated imagery.
His first major commission for an Absolut Vodka advertisement catapulted him into the realm of other significant artists, such as Andy Warhol. Britto has since exhibited his artwork in the Louvre, as well as over 140 international galleries and museums. Some call him the ‘Celebrity Portrait Artist’ for his fanciful portraits and heart-warming scenes have landed in the collection of famous figureheads, such as the Guggenheims, the Kennedys and former Whitney Museum President, William Woodside.
This small original mixed media on paper, Love D & G, depicts one of Britto’s most famous motifs, the heart, combined with swirls of oil pen marker painted on a Dolce & Gabbana catalogue featuring a male model. This work reflects the one of the artist’s promotional collaborations with the fashion house.
