After recently announcing that she designed a fashion line called Material Girl with her pop star mom Madonna, Lourdes ‘Lola’ Leon has taken to blogging to help promote the range. In her first entry on the fashion line’s website Lola shares that she loves My Chemical Romance and all things 80s. Material Girl is set to be sold by Macy’s and aimed at girls in Lola’s age group. She also tells us on her blog that, “I’ll be 14 in October, so I can’t wait for that because I am FINALLY allowed to dye my hair … THANK YOU MOTHER!!

Prince Albert of Monaco to Wed Charlene Wittstock

Yesterday it was announced that Prince Albert of Monaco is due to marry his longtime girlfriend Charlene Wittstock, a former Olympic swimmer from South Africa. Charlene and Albert recently attended the wedding of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden (above) and looked every bit the glamorous royal couple!

Charlotte Casiraghi Makes Deal with Gucci

Princess Caroline of Monaco and Hanover’s daughter Charlotte Casiraghi has teamed up with Gucci for a multi-year equestrian sponsorship. The Italian luxury goods label will outfit Casiraghi for all of her competitions, a reference to Gucci’s heritage which has long been inspired by equestrian motifs, such as their famous “bit bag” and loafers. Casiraghi’s new ‘uniform’ was especially designed by Gucci creative director Frida Giannini and debuted at the first leg of the 2010 Global Championship Tour in Valencia, Spain, earlier this month.

Gareth Pugh To Open First Store

Famed Central Saint Martins graduated Gareth Pugh is reportedly planning to open his first boutique next month, according to the Twitter feed of the Telegraph’s fashion editor Hilary Alexander. The Paris based designer however has not chosen his adopted home city or even London for his new digs as Alexander reports the shop will go up in Hong Kong.

Harrods Sold to Qatar Holding

Mohamed Al Fayed has sold the famous Knightsbridge store Harrods to Qatar Holding for a reported 1.5 billion pounds or $2.22 billion. Al Fayed acquired the store in 1985 after battling for ownership with tycoon Tiny Rowland for £615 million.  It was reported that Al Fayed is selling in order to retire to spend more time with his family.

2010 Met Costume Institute Gala

The 2010 Met Costume Institute Gala is taking place tomorrow evening to launch the new exhibit American Women: Fashioning a National Identity. Making use of the new Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection at the Met and it will explore the American women from 1890-1940 and how these generations of women have shaped our perceptions of the modern woman. The exhibition includes pieces not seen in public for the past 30 years and will be open to the public from May 5 to August 15. Meanwhile the annual Costume Institute Gala Benefit is being hosted by Oprah along with Vogue’s Anna Wintour and Gap’s Patrick Robinson. Can’t wait to see all those red carpet gowns! Fashionably Curious

Fashionably Curious is a new exhibit being held at 18 Stafford Terrace, Kensington, London,  also known as Linely Sambourne house as it is the former home of the Punch cartoonist Edward Linley Sambourne, a relative of the furniture designer Viscount Linley and photographer Lord Snowdon. The exhibition is curated by the final year Fashion History & Theory BA students at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and uses the space to create a ‘through the looking glass’ contemporary fashion adventure in the perfectly preserved Victorian house.
