Karl Lagerfeld for Elle France
Karl Lagerfeld appears in a comical editorial for the April 2012 issue of Elle France. Accompanied by two of his favourite models, Saskii de Brauw and Caroline Brasch Nielsen, Lagerfeld makes his first trip to a Paris supermarket. Prior to the release of the article WWD reported that the Chanel designer was shocked by the stock of junk food stating, “This is my first time in a supermarket. It’s crazy, how much junk food you can actually buy in this place. You can gain like 45 pounds from that kind of food” … Continue reading to view more images.
Little Black Jacket by Karl Lagerfeld
Through over a hundred photographs, Karl Lagerfeld pays tribute to Chanel’s little black jacket. Created during the fifties by Mademoiselle Chanel, the jacket has been endlessly reinvented by Karl Lagerfeld in each of his collections ever since 1983, for the most part, in the fundamental Chanel colour: black.
In the book The Little Black Jacket: Chanel’s classic revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld*, the jacket is being adapted and worn differently by some of today’s personalities in contemporary culture : slipped on by the French singer, Vanessa Paradis, transformed into a headdress for the American actress, Sarah Jessica Parker, or adapted to Alice Dellal’s neo-punk look – this fashion masterpiece can adapt to any style.
Karl Lagerfeld has chosen to capture the jacket‘s versatility in a series of photographs taken in close collaboration with Carine Roitfeld. The book will accompany the opening of an exhibition dedicated to it, which will run from 24th March until 15th April 2012 in Tokyo.

Vanessa Paradis and Karl Lagerfeld Light Up Printemps
Fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld and sometime muse Vanessa Paradis were asked to switch on the Christmas lights together at the famous Parisian Printemps Megastore. Visions and a Decision by Karl Lagerfeld & Amanda Harlech
Karl Lagerfeld has run Chanel for the last 24 years, with Lady Amanda Harlech at his side for half of that time in the role of a personal and professional muse. Visions and Decision, their second collaborative book, combines Lagerfeld’s black-and-white photographs of Claudia Schiffer, Brad Kroenig and Sebastien Jondeau from a 1993 Dom Perignon Oenotheque advertising campaign with a story by Harlech. Her tale charts the sensual fantasies of a young bachelor, Ghyslain, and Malvina, his bride-to-be; he is charming and ruthless, she is beautiful and demure. “This is a story of a young, handsome, old-money couple,” explains Lagerfeld. “Everything is perfect, they’re just a little bored.” With Dom Perignon as the catalyst, Ghyslain fantasizes about transforming his prim fiancee into a cast of seductive characters. Harlech’s darkly humorous sensibility, which informs the Chanel aesthetic, is pitch perfect in this story of decadent ennui and passive seduction. Modeled on a traditional fairy-tale book with a title plaque embossed in silver, a black cloth bookmark and silver printing throughout, Visions and a Decision is perhaps not without a playful moral. Suppressing our desires is a dangerous thing; liberating them could be the beginning of a delectable existence. Visit Amazon.com to purchase Visions and a Decision now.
