Best of Celine F/W 2011

Celine designer Pheobe Philo described her latest collection for the French house as “Strong. Powerful. Reduced”. This translated into beautiful funnel-neck coats and dresses, elegant slim pants, some with a little ankle flare, bits of 1970s style leather detail on some looks, and shearling coats and capes. Philo’s interpretation of luxury as sophisticated simplicity prevailed, keeping RDuJour a loyal fan. Continue reading for favorite looks.

Marni Autumn/Winter 2010

Consuelo Castiglioni’s autumn-winter collection for her label Marni consisted of her signature bohemian looks with structured lines and geometric patterns. Definitely a collection where one will have to pick a piece here and there rather than pull on the whole runway ensemble it was one of my favorite collections from Milan so far. Designer Amanda Wakeley kicked off her fashion week by accepting an OBE as a part of the Queen’s Birthday Honors list for both her contribution to the British fashion industry and her fundraising for breast cancer. About her OBE Wakeley said, “This award is also recognition for the talented and committed teams that I am fortunate to work with both in my own business and at Fashion Targets. Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2010

Marc Jacobs is renowned for his ability to move forward with trends and knows how to set a good mood to his collections. Fall 2010 was no exception moving firmly away from traces of the 80s that he helped pioneer over the past few seasons. Structured, subdued, and with slight military references, Jacobs collection, complete with khaki coats and wool dresses, will appeal to the young urbanites who flock to his designs. Thakoon Fall 2010

As we all saw in The September Issue designer Thakoon Panichgul is one of Anna Wintour and Vogue’s favorite up-and-comers. Formerly the maker of all things light, pretty, and printed, Thakoon Fall 2010 collection shifted in a new direction that was muted in city colors like greys, white, brown, and black, and hooded in lots of fur. Diane Von Furstenberg Fall 2010

For her Fall collection Diane Von Furstenberg noted, “I always wanted to live a man’s life in a woman’s body”. The sentiment rang true in her designs which featured elements of men’s style mixed with feminine frills, most notably seen in the rosette covered mans blazer and paired cropped trouser pants model by Natalia Vodianova. The rest of the collection meanwhile was more sparkle and frills than boy-meets-girl chic. Continue reading for additional photos.
