Dior Cruise 2011 Runway
The 2011 Dior cruise collection may have been delivered in Shanghai in a massive tent along the city’s famous Bund but the clothes were purely Parisian chic. John Galliano is a master at delivering the sort of retro glamour RDuJour adores, taking inspiration for such designs from the Nouvelle Vague cinematic movement and the style of it’s starlets like Francoise Hardy, Jean Seaberg, Romy Schneider, and Jeanne Moreau. Dior Cruise 2011 Event Shanghai
Following in the footsteps of Chanel with Karl Lagerfeld’s Shanghai inspired Paris-Shanghai collection shown back in Decemeber, LVMH label Dior is branching out east as well. Dior designer John Galliano, LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault, his wife Helene Arnault, and Dior faces Charlize Theron and Marion Cotillard were all on hand this weekend to celebrate the opening of the new Dior shop in Shanghai. Lara Stone for Eres Cruise 2010

Designer Daniella Helayel showed her label Issa’s 2010 resort collection at The Standard Hotel in Manhattan on Thursday afternoon. Jason Wu 2010 Resort
Jason Wu, the designer of Michelle Obama’s famous inaugural gown, showed his 2010 resort collection yesterday at the Greenwich Hotel in New York. Wu’s collection was very simple and chic, comprising mostly of crisp skirt and blouse combinations and elegant dresses. A neutral color palate of greys and cream was offset by bright colors such as turquoise, yellow, and orange, which left me teetering between just liking and loving the pieces. Yves Saint Laurent 2010 Resort
Yves Saint Laurent’s Stefano Pilati turned out a glamourous if slightly boring resort collection for the 2009-10 season. I’m usually not a fan of orange clothing but I don’t object to the faded shade used for a trench coat by Pilati. I also liked the look consisting of a grey jersey top and green silk skirt as well as all the sunglasses and headbands. Chanel 2010 Cruise Collection
For Chanel’s latest line of cruise wear Karl Lagerfeld used Venice as the inspiration and backdrop for his designs. The city where Coco once owned a villa also hosted the magical boardwalk runway show at Excelsior Hotel on the Lido. Models with short coiffed hairdos wore Chanel’s iconic striped knits and long, majestic feeling dresses. Although there was a little Tender is the Night glamour going on, Karl also dipped into some modern trends like the spandex-ish biker shorts with lace trim that will undoubtedly be a target for high street knock-offs.
