The second issue of Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book has been announced. Themed around the editor’s recent interest in ballet the flip cover features Ukrainian ballet star Sergei Polunin captured by Gus Van Sant and the reverse shows a stylised image of the ballet shoe realised by artist Brigitte Niedermair.

Roitfeld has said, “I’m obsessed with the body of the ballet dancer, obsessed with the music and obsessed with the Russian tradition in ballet. When you are a dancer, you don’t get money. You do it because you love it. It’s so pure and beautiful — the freedom, the movement, the gestures.”

For the past year and a half, Roitfeld herself has been privately studying dance and credits the practice with transforming her body and mental focus, according to WWD.

Carine Roitfeld’s latest post-Vogue Paris collaboration is one with popular Californian cosmetics company MAC. The fashion editor is the latest to partner for a capsule collection for the brand, who’s other upcoming offerings will include an Andy Warhol themed series of palettes.

The biannual publication is being put to market by Fashion Group LLC, who also publish Visionnaire, VMan and V, and will be called CR Fashion Book or CR for short. Roitfeld hopes that they will be timeless but trendy keepsakes.
