French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, the daughter of singer Serge Gainsbourg and actress Jane Birkin and half sister of fashion icon Lou Doillon, won the Palm d’Or for best actress at the Cannes Film Festival for her role in Antichrist. Based on descriptions of the movie I have read that Gainsbourg’s role involves torturing co-star William Dafoe’s character and mutilates her own genitals so I am probably going to pass up a viewing. Instead as means of celebration I think I will stick to rewatching My Wife is an Actress, the first Charlotte Gainsbourg movie I ever saw and still adore.
