Sotheby’s Evening Sale of Impressionist & Modern Art in New York will feature seven paintings from the Durand-Ruel collection. The Durand-Ruels are a legendary dynasty of art dealers who pioneered the international market for Impressionism. The works at Sotheby’s were acquired by Paul Durand-Ruel directly from the artists – Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro and Alfred Sisley – in the late nineteenth century and have remained with his heirs ever since. The opportunity to own an Impressionist masterpiece boasting such impeccable provenance is truly exceptional.
