Tatiana Santo Domingo writes from London:
“Went to the opening of 20 Hoxton Square last night, the newest, trendiest gallery in London for new and undiscovered artists. This is the gallery’s first exhibition, consisting of 27 young artists, most of them have never showed their work before. It was organized by two of my oldest childhood friends, Alexander Dellal, son of the beautiful Brazilian model Andrea Dellal, who owns the gallery, and Adam Waymouth, curator of the show, whose father, Nigel Waymouth started Granny Takes a Trip, the hippest store of the swinging ’60s in London.
“I have never seen so many people at a gallery opening! Adam was delighted to find his very aristocratic aunt, Lady Amabel Lindsay, squeezed in the middle of the queue outside after she had tried several weeks ago to dissuade him from having the opening night on a Friday as ‘people go to the country on Friday, people have shoots over the weekend, no one will come!’
“It is not only my opinion but the opinion of many that the star of the show was undoubtedly artist Olympia Scarry (right), who looked radiant in sexy Kova & T latex leggings, killer YSL heels, and a Stella McCartney velvet jacket. Her piece, The Vanitaas, a mirrored boudoir, was placed in the center of the room. Inside hung a hardened, chromed bra and garter belt. When guests put their heads inside to look, they saw their reflection a countless number of times among these articles of clothing. Olympia’s piece is a reflection of today’s infatuation with beauty and aesthetic perfection.
“Other attendees included Camilla Al Fayed, Alexander’s gorgeous sisters Charlotte and Alice Dellal, Cecile Winkler, and Eugenie Niarchos. Eugenie was wearing a Topshop T-shirt that she had transformed into a dress and extremely high YSL shoes. Eugenie is now designing her own collection of jewelry for Repossi and cleverly asked all of her friends to model the jewelry for the evening. Olympia got first pick and covered herself in black gold and diamonds.”
