Stylish Young Things: Alex Dellal
Alex is the owner of the 20 Hoxton Square gallery that sits adjacent to the White Cube. Hoxton Square is a guerilla gallery, which cultivates new talent as well as established faces in the art world. They run an unscheduled operation with no set venues and have already sent artists under the wings of Damien Hirst. Alex told the Independent: ”The gallery was inspired by Andy Warhol’s Factory in New York. I liked the idea of artists being around and visitors being able to talk to them. We have artists’ studios upstairs, a bar and our own newspaper in which artists and writers can find out about each other…”We show emerging artists although they are not always young. Anyone can approach the gallery and we’ll always consider their work. We don’t plan exhibitions in advance. If an artist has produced some good work, we put it on show.”
