In 2001 French high fashion stylist Carine Roitfeld was appointed editor-in-chief of the Parisian version of the style bible Vogue, making her empress of one of the most important fashion publications produced. A former model, Roitfeld is a longtime friend of fashion photographer Mario Testino (who is godfather to her children Julia and Vladmir Restoin-Roitfeld) and had previously worked for Tom Ford at Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent.
